Dr. Lakshmi Kannan did her B.A. (Hons) and M.A. in English from Delhi University. she did her Ph.D. program on the Nobel laureate Saul Bellow from Jadavpur University, Calcutta, after which she received a Fellowship from the UGC as a Post-Doctoral Associate to continue her research on Saul Bellow and his contemporaries.

She was invited as a Scholar-in-Residence by the American Studies Research Centre, Hyderabad. During her tenure, she offered guidance to the visiting research scholars who were working towards their M. Phil and Ph.D degrees.

She taught for several years in the faculty of English in colleges in Delhi and Kolkata, and in the department of HASS, IIT, Delhi, before she joined a MNC as a Senior Writer. She is currently the Vice President of The Poetry Society (India).
